National Curriculum Workshops - Foundation and Reception

EnchantedForest delivers nature workshops for 3-5 year olds linked to the foundation stage of the National Curriculum (NC links are available on request).

The Nature Workshops we offer for this age group are:

The Big Bug Hunt - LO1, LO2, LO3

Children will discover
Find and uncover
Creepy crawlies of all sorts
Which will inspire, and create all kinds of thoughts
Into these amazing little creatures
With very unusual features
We will move, we will create, we will listen and find
To understand this secret world which will teach us to be kind

This workshop is most suited to spring, summer and autumn.

Santa's Workshop at Stansted Park - LO3

What little child at this time of year
Would not want to see Santa and his friendly deer
With magic and sparkle
Each child will marvel
At Santa's new grotto set within the trees
Where children receive gifts say thank you and please
Children will discover, create, learn and listen
About the morning sun that made all the forest creatures
wake and made the magic golden pine cones glisten
Make a wish upon a star
Before you visit Santa who has traveled so far
to see all the girls and all the boys
to find out what they would like, "oh yes Santa, lots of toys"

This workshop is available from the end of November to mid December. Although this workshop is highly fun and magical for the children, it is heavily linked to the National Curriculum. This workshop is self led with planned activities for your group to do on your visit and also creative activities to do back at school or nursery. Prior to your visit you will receive a detailed teachers/leaders pack. You and your group will visit Santa in a traditional Mongolian yurt set in the grounds of Stansted Park.

Sensing the Seasons - LO1, LO2, LO3

It's cold, its freezing you say
We know then, that it's not the month of May
It's a beautiful day, sunny and warm
It must June, July or an early august dawn
Children will use their senses to discover and explore
Mother nature's seasons and unlock her secret door
With creative activities bringing to life
Colours, patterns and texture in nature and wildlife
And a story to suit, a game to play
You will have an exciting time just like the month of May

This workshop will fit into any time of the year with appropriate activities for each season.

Teddy Bears Picnic - LO1, LO2, LO3

A nice thing to do in summer when the weather is warm and sunny
Is to have a teddy bears picnic and go on search for the honey
Bring your teddies and picnics too
And don't forget a blanket for Paddington and pooh
Colour, create, find, and explore
Amongst the trees where you will find bears foot prints and much more
Listen to a story of a far away land
And play games where we all join hands

This workshop is lovely for the summer, maybe as a treat at the end of the school year.

Take Flight - LO1, LO2, LO3

Our feathered friends are a pretty sight
To watch them fly and take flight
Children will learn what its like to be a bird
Different bird calls and when they are heard
Understand where they live, and what they eat
And even the funny shape of their feet
Time to get messy and make
a birds very favorite fruity cake
Nuts and seeds
Fruit and cheese
How our little feathered friends will be pleased

This workshop is most suitable in autumn and winter, but can be adapted for the rest of the year.

Home for a Hedgehog - LO1, LO2, LO3

The trees stand strong in the cool autumn breeze
Which will shed the tree all of its leaves
Winter is near
And the sky is clear
It's starting to get cold
But wait, behold
The little prickly hedgehog is snuffling the ground
He is looking at a hole in a large soily mound
He needs to be safe and go to sleep
While the snow falls in the winter so deep
Children will learn about hibernation
And make a hedgehog home of there own creation
We will work with clay to make a hedgehog display
For you to take home after your delightful day

This workshop is most suitable between September and December.
